IT and Business Strategy

What must be done?

From the range of investment or improvement options gathered from our assessment of the IT solutions and services, or from a review of the business needs, we are able to help you to determine those changes that in combination will be of most value to the business.  Organisations often incorrectly rationalise this as a prioritisation of the portfolio and it is a weakness shared by all of the commonly used methodologies. We will be happy to explain our approach but it involves some or all of the the following activities:

  • Review of Business Needs: A statement of the current, emerging and future IT needs of the business enterprise.
  • IT Alignment, Governance  and Strategy Development: Alignment and governance are little understood within the industry generally yet they are key to ensuring that IT properly supports the business, its market and the ecosystem and that this alignment is maintained. We are leaders in this field.
  • IT Service Development and Service Engineering: Having established the strategic direction for IT, having achieved consensus on the purpose and content of an improvement programme, and having agreed how the end state is to me managed we can drive, or advise on how best to deliver, the improvement programme for IT.  Improvements may assist the organisation to reposition itself with respect to its customer or market to enable it to deliver better service.  It may be focused on working through the implications of a new business model.  It may call for new skills or a technology refresh. It could simply be about process improvement, process compliance, or cost reduction. We assist with all of these things.
